5 Minute Microwave Cake!

Tanvi and I both LOVE instant food. Any delicious recipe that gets done within 15 mins is literally close to our hearts. Microwave mug cakes are a blessing from heaven!

Sometimes you just crave chocolate. But a bar of chocolate is too sweet or too bitter. And chocolate milk is just not what you want. You want chocolate cake and you want it now! So what do you do?

You make a microwave cake! Yes there are a lot of recipes online for the same. But trust me, this one is tried and tested for perfection. Oh so rich and heart warming (I swear, it literally does)!

A warm cup of rich choco awesomeness!

This recipe takes 5 minutes in total!

You will need (makes one mug) :
1 big Mug or a bowl (microwavable)

3 tbsp of Dark Cocoa (unsweetened)
4 tbsp of All-purpose Flour
5 tbsp of Sugar
1 tbsp Chocolate chips (Or even mint, caramel, white chocolate chips)

2 tbsp whisked egg (because an entire egg is too much, so fry a mini omelette!)
5 tbsp Milk
3 tbsp Cooking Oil (or melted butter)
1/4 tsp Vanilla (just about a small drop will do)

And see, no baking powder required!

How to make this awesome mug cake:
1. Add the cocoa, flour, sugar  to the mug mix it up well with a fork.

2. Add the whisked egg, milk, oil and vanilla to the flour mixture, mix it all up really well to get a smooth mixture.

The mixture ready for some extra choco chips and Hershey's chocolate syrup

3. Add the chocolate chips. Mix.

4. Microwave for 2 mins, poke a knife to check if it is done. If knife comes out sticky, microwave for another 30 secs and voila! (Keep a watch while it cooks)
If you have the patience dust it with some caster sugar!

Rich, soft and light. Om nomnomnom

Tips-
- You can always add extra chocolate chips.
- You could add a dollop of Hershey's chocolate sauce or Nutella or even throw in chunks of your favourite chocolate bar!
- Substituting applesauce for oil works well too
- If the cake rises above the level of the mug, don't worry. Just get a bigger mug next time.
- Skip the egg entirely if you want your mug cake to be more gooey and fudgey.
- You can also add flavours like cinnamon, coffee, mint, caramel etc.

  1. So around how much does the cake rise above the batter? How much empty space should we keep in the mug before microwaving?
